Strengths:
Impressive size; has a very thick build. Very good hands. Has the ability to make difficult catches in traffic; uses his size to his advantage to shield defenders from the ball. A strong downhill runner with the ball in his hands. An impressive blocker; quick off the snaps and gets a good initial pop on his assignment. Made major strides his senior year.
Weaknesses:
A major injury risk. Missed most of 2007 season with a dislocated elbow. Missed 2008 spring practice after having surgery on a broken wrist. Missed time in 2008 with a broken foot, pulled hamstring and a concussion. Missed time in 2009 with an ankle injury.
Comments:
Moeaki is a very talented tight end who has a ton of upside. However, he just can't stay on the field. There's no reason to believe his string of injuries will end anytime soon, making him too much of a risk to select before the 4th round. If healthy, he could develop into a starter, but at this rate he'll never be on the field long enough to earn that role.
