Strengths:
Prototypical size and strength. One of the better blocking tight ends in this year's class. Reliable hands. Able to use his size to shield smaller defenders when making a catch in traffic.
Weaknesses:
Not much of a threat as a receiver. Doesn't have the speed to stretch the field; won't make plays in the passing game beyond 10 yards down the field. Doesn't have the athleticism to pick up yardage after the catch. Suspended multiple times for academic reasons.
Comments:
McCoy doesn't have the athleticism to be an elite tight end at the next level, but his blocking ability will make him a nice complementary piece. He could be a starter in the right system, but only if a team isn't looking for a tight end to impact the passing game. He's a fairly safe pick, but his upside is very limited.
