Everson Griffen DE USC #93

Ht: 6'3
Wt: 278

Strengths:
Elite strength. Has the ability to push around weaker offensive linemen with his bull rush. A good all-around athlete. Decent speed; has the ability to chase down ball carriers from behind. Has a quick first step.
Weaknesses:
Very inconsistent. Has the ability to dominate, but doesn't seem to put his full effort in on every play. Arrested and charged with "breach of peace" in July 2009; charges were late dropped. Overaggressive at times; likes to deliver the big hit.
Comments:
Griffen has a ton of potential, but in a very deep class of defensive linemen he has the potential to slide down the draft boards because of the perception that he may not consistently give his best effort. Physically, he could be a top-15 prospect, but given the other options available he may not be a safe pick until the 20th-32nd pick range. He has the athleticism and strength to put on an impressive performance in workouts, so teams will need to be cautious in weighing that against his work ethic concerns.
