Corey Wootton DE Northwestern #99

Ht: 6'6
Wt: 280

Strengths:
Impressive size and strength. Has the ability to play defensive end in a 3-4 or 4-3 system. May also be able to shift inside to tackle in the 4-3 defense. Strong upper body. Quick first step; has a decent speed rush. A hard worker and a team leader.
Weaknesses:
Suffered a torn ACL in Northwestern's 2008 bowl game. Doesn't have the elite athleticism that most 4-3 teams are looking for in a defensive end. Height works to his disadvantage; struggles to get low and use good leverage as a pass rusher.
Comments:
Wootton is an intriguing prospect because he fits into every system - something that you can't say about many defensive ends these days. He doesn't have elite natural ability but his size and versatility could land him in the 1st round. I believe he fits best at defensive end in a 3-4 system; these players are hard to find which could lead a team to reach for him if they feel he fits their system. His real value is in the 2nd round, but don't be surprised to hear his name called much earlier.
