Earl Thomas S Texas #12

Ht: 5'10
Wt: 195

Strengths:
Very well built for his size. An elite natural athlete. A versatile defender who could play free safety or cornerback at the next level. Has truly elite coverage skills for a safety. Excels in both man and zone coverage. Great ball skills; has a knack for coming up with the big interception.
Weaknesses:
Slightly undersized for a safety. Can be overaggressive at times; his athleticism allows for him to get away with it in college but that may not be the case in the NFL.
Comments:
Thomas is an intriguing prospect. He looks like an elite talent but his success at the next level may simply be determined by the system he lands in. Some will view him as a cornerback, but that's a tall task for a redshirt sophomore to go from playing free safety in the Big 12 to making a position change to cornerback in the NFL. Personally I would be more comfortable drafting him as a safety and if he shows the ability to play cornerback down the road, then that change can be made. Either way he should be a 1st-round lock, potentially sneaking into the top 15.
