Ryan Williams RB Virginia Tech #34

Ht: 5'10
Wt: 205

Strengths:
Has a nice small compact built. Well built for his size. Low center of gravity and is tough to bring down. Runs hard; keeps his legs moving and can pick up extra yards after he's wrapped up. Has a great burst, gets up to full speed quickly. Fairly elusive; can make people miss in the open field.
Weaknesses:
Missed time with a hamstring injury in 2010. Coming off a disappointing year. Only one 100-yard game in 2010 and was bottled up by the better defenses he faced such as Boise State.
Comments:
Entering the year I had Williams rated as the top draft-eligible running back but due to injuries and ineffectiveness he regressed in his sophomore year. As a result, it was surprising to see him leave two years of eligibility on the table. He has the skills necessary to be a starter, but I would be cautious about overworking him. He runs like a 220-pound running back, and as a result takes a beating that he can't handle. He had over 300 touches in 2009, and there's no question in my mind that contributed to his inability to stay on the field in 2010.
