Tyson Alualu DT California #44

Ht: 6'2
Wt: 291

Strengths:
Excellent athlete for an interior lineman. Very active and plays with a motor that never dies. Consistently gets into the backfield using his bull rush. Does a job job staying low and using leverage to get past bigger offensive linemen. A team leader on and off the field; was a team captain as a senior. Has enough speed to occasionally make plays in pursuit.
Weaknesses:
Doesn't have elite size; won't be a great fit for every defensive scheme. Relies heavily on his bull rush, which won't work with the same consistency in the NFL. Overaggressive as a pass rusher causes him to be a liability against the run at times.
Comments:
Alualu, who is married with two children, is the type of high-intensity player and team leader that coaches love. He'll ace all his interviews with teams and win over a lot of coaching staffs with what he brings to the locker room. Given his lack of elite size, some teams may not consider him a fit for their system. He would be an ideal fit as a three-technique tackle in a 4-3 scheme, or potentially a defensive end in a 3-4 scheme.
