Strengths: |
Great overall athleticism. Does a nice job reading and reacting to the quarterback. Great ball skills. Has the speed to run with most receivers. A willing tackler, but doesn't have the size/strength to excel at it. Experienced on special teams. |
Weaknesses: |
Slightly undersized; may be better suited as a nickel corner than on the outside. Fairly significant character concerns. Suspended for 2010 Cotton Bowl for being out after curfew. Arrested for speeding and driving with a suspended license in September 2009. Has three children. |
Comments: |
Cox has the physical tools to be a successful cornerback in the league, but his perceived lack of maturity and his lack of size may cause his stock to fall. One thing he does have going for him, however, is his ability to contribute on special teams. He's one of the top return specialists in this year's draft class. That, coupled with his knack for big plays on defense, should land him a spot in the 2nd or 3rd round. If he does well in interviews, and teams are comfortable with his character concerns, he could even sneak into the late 1st round. |
