Eugene Monroe OT Virginia #75

Ht: 6'5
Wt: 315

Strengths:
Prototypical size for an NFL left tackle. Shows good technique. Has the long arms necessary to dominate. Excels in pass protection. Enough quickness to handle speed rushers. Has experience at both tackle and guard.
Weaknesses:
Doesn't have the strong base necessary to excel as a run blocker or hold up against bull rushers. Needs to add more weight before he can be a truly dominant offensive lineman. Suffered a dislocated kneecap during the 2006 offseason. Also missed 2 games with a knee injury in 2007.
Comments:
Monroe quietly goes about his business and gets the job done, but he rarely dominates - which is a concern. Questions that need to be addressed are: does he lack the effort or does he just need to bulk up a little? Monroe was the reason Virginia left Branden Albert at guard rather than play him at left tackle (where he plays for the Chiefs). Monroe is already an elite pass blocker, but needs work as a run blocker before becoming a complete lineman - because of this, certain teams will find him more attractive than others.
