Matthew Stafford QB Georgia #7

Ht: 6'3
Wt: 236

Strengths:
Adequate height. Elite arm strength. Shows impressive accuracy on the deep ball. Made steady improvements each season. Patient in the pocket; doesn't rush his throws as the pocket closes in around him. Maintains focus even as he takes a hit. Solid mechanics.
Weaknesses:
Not a very good athlete; off the field he definitely does not look like a football player. He's pudgy and needs to turn some it into muscle. Accuracy on shorter throws is only average. Has failed to impress as a leader. Didn't take the strides in 2008 that were expected of him.
Comments:
Stafford has all the physical tools, but there are some fairly serious concerns about his NFL-readiness. The general perception (right or wrong) is that he was more interested in partying than studying film and improving on the field (and his physique sure supports that thought). Physically, he is worthy of a being a top five selection but I would conduct multiple interviews with him to get a better sense of his personality and his passion for the game before making the pick.
