Brian Orakpo DE Texas #98

Ht: 6'4
Wt: 260

Strengths:
Prototypical build for a defensive end. Above average speed for the position. Shows good athleticism and has a wide range of moves to get to the quarterback. Good upper body strength - overall size and strength has steadily improved throughout his collegiate career. Excels as a pass rusher, but is effective against the run as well.
Weaknesses:
Good speed, but doesn't have the quickness that you like to see from a pass rusher. Injuries are a fairly serious concern; has yet to get through a full season as a starter without suffering an injury. Missed time in 2007 with a sprained knee. Missed time again in 2008 with another knee injury.
Comments:
Some teams may view Orakpo as an outside-linebacker in a 3-4 scheme, but I like his chances better as a down-lineman in a 4-3 system. His athleticism is good but not great, and his history of knee injuries are more of a concern at a position like linebacker that requires more lateral movement than defensive end. His style reminds me of Michael Strahan; he relies on his moves to get into the backfield, but he has enough speed to keep offensive linemen on their toes.
