Aaron Maybin OLB Penn State #59

Ht: 6'4
Wt: 246
Strengths:
Good overall athleticism. An elite pass rusher. Has the speed and the quickness to blow past slower offensive lineman. Should be a very effective pass-rush specialist at the next level. A high-character guy; a hard worker that has steadily improved throughout his short career.
Weaknesses:
Played defensive end at Penn State but likely will be forced to play linebacker at the next level. Very raw; doesn't have the array of pass rush moves to excel against more athletic, experienced offensive linemen in the NFL. Struggles against the run; can be pushed around by physical run-blockers. Tackling skills are lacking; doesn't always wrap up the ball carrier.
Comments/Rating:
Maybin isn't ready to be an every-down player in the NFL, which made his entry into the NFL draft after his sophomore season somewhat surprising. He reminds me of a taller version of former Louisville standout Elvis Dumervil. Maybin could be an instant impact player as a situational pass-rusher, but he either needs to bulk up in order to remain at defensive end or spend time learning the outside-linebacker position. Based on potential he could be a first round selection, but he is certainly a boom-or-bust prospect.
