Virgil Green

Virgil Green scouting report

Virgil Green TE Nevada
Ht: 6’3″

Wt: 250

Elite athleticism; runs like a wide receiver. Three-year starter. A threat to make plays after the catch; a rare ability for a tight end. Creates a very tough matchup for linebackers.
Fundamentals are lacking. Not a great route runner; rounds off his routes and just generally looks sloppy; likely a result of playing against many linebackers who simply lack the athleticism to keep pace with him. Lacks the height most teams look for in pass-catching tight ends. Blocking ability is limited; doesn’t have great lower body strength.
Green’s athleticism is going to intrigue many offensive coordinators in the NFL, however, he is a work in progress. He’s an unpolished player who needs to be coached up before he’s ready to make an impact. His fundamentals and NFL-readiness are probably that of a 5th-7th rounder, but his athleticism will almost certainly allow him to come off the board in the 3rd or 4th round. He’s a developmental prospect, but definitely has the potential to be a weapon in the passing game.
