Stephen Burton

Stephen Burton scouting report

Stephen Burton WR West Texas A&M
Ht: 6’1″

Wt: 221

Strengths:
Good overall build. Fairly strong for a receiver. Good route runner; very fluid for his size. Very reliable hands. A tough runner after the catch; played running back in high school. Some experience returning kicks.
Weaknesses:
Limited experience against top competition; JUCO transfer. Hasn’t been tested in press coverage due to size – something he’ll see more of in NFL and will need to adjust. Frame is filled out; needs to be sure he stays in shape so as to not lose a step. Speed is average at best; not a deep threat.
Comments:
Burton is one of the top small-school sleepers in this year’s draft. He has the skills to be a reliable possession receiver and could potentially develop into a No. 2 option. Level of competition is definitely a concern, however, and he may take a few years to reach his full potential.
