| Above average size and strength. A decent athlete. Does a nice job adjusting the ball in the air. Adequate leaping ability; looks good going up for the ball in traffic. Strong enough to fight through press coverage. A very good blocker for a receiver. Polished route runner. | ||

| Limited speed; plays more like a tight end than a receiver at times. Will struggle to separate from NFL cornerbacks. | ||

| Whalen was a productive college receiver but simply lacks the speed to be an impact player at the next level. However, he is fairly polished for a college receiver and has the size to play on special teams. He should be able to win a job as a 4th or 5th receiver, but his upside is limited beyond that. | ||
