| Strengths: | ||
| Experience at free safety and cornerback. Decent speed. Experienced returning kicks. Does a nice job playing the run. Reliable tackler. A hard hitter; forced three fumbles in 2009. | ||
| Weaknesses: | ||
| Lacks elite ball skills; just one career interceptions. Does not always look fluid in coverage; inconsistent fundamentals. May be better suited to play safety in the NFL. | ||

| Gilchrist will be one of the more popular mid-round prospects in the draft due to his versatility, but it doesn’t mean he has much upside. He lacks the speed and fluid athleticism to be a starting cornerback and he lacks the size and ball skills to be a quality free safety. He’s a ‘tweener and may not fit at either position. | ||
