Kendric Burney

Kendric Burney scouting report

Kendric Burney CB North Carolina
Ht: 5’9″

Wt: 185

Impressive athlete; looks very fluid in coverage. A four-year starter who had a tremendously productive career at North Carolina. Great ball skills, 11 career interceptions. Plays faster than his timed speed.
Undersized; lacks the height that most teams look for in a starting cornerback. Will probably be limited to playing nickel corner at the next level. Very poor showing at the combine with a 4.72 in the forty. Followed that up with a 4.69 at his pro day – raises serious concerns about his speed.
Burney looked like a potential 2nd or 3rd round pick as a junior in 2009 but was suspended for part of 2010 and was not nearly as productive once he returned. Additionally, he stock took a major hit this offseason due to his poor times in the forty. A 5’9″ cornerback can’t play in the NFL if he doesn’t have elite speed. That said, Burney plays much faster than he times and his production in college can’t be ignored. He will fall to the 4th round, if not later, but could prove to be a steal if he is able to regain his build upon his 2009 performance.
