Danny Watkins

Danny Watkins scouting report

Danny Watkins OG Baylor
Ht: 6’3″

Wt: 310

Strengths:
Prototypical size and strength for an interior lineman. Above average athleticism; played left tackle at Baylor. A nasty run blocker. Plays with a mean streak and finishes off blocks. A team leader with top intangibles. A hard worker and coaches have nothing but great things to say about him.
Weaknesses:
Already 26 years old; didn’t play football until 2007 at JUCO. Still very raw. Needs to continue to develop his fundamentals, which is concerning for a 26-year-old prospect.
Comments:
Watkins has 1st-round raw talent but it’s hard to justify taking a 26-year-old who is still learning the position that early. He probably won’t be an immediate impact player, so he could be 27 or 28 before he reaches his full potential. His versatility could be what makes him most intriguing in the 2nd round. He projects as a starting guard, but could definitely play right tackle if needed.
