D.J. Young

D.J. Young scouting report

D.J. Young OT Michigan State
Ht: 6’5″

Wt: 307

Prototypical height and overall build for a tackle. Productive two-year starter at both left and right tackle. Solid overall strength. A nasty run blocker; potentially carrying over from his experience as a defensive tackle. Still learning the position and has some upside.
Only two years of experience at offensive tackle on the D-I level. Originally went to Bowling Green and played two years at defensive tackle before transferring to a JUCO and finally to Michigan State as a junior. Fundamentals are still shaky.
Young will offer very little in the short team but he showed enough in two years at Michigan State to make him a decent sleeper in the late rounds. Given time to develop he could become a solid backup with the skills necessary to play just about anywhere on the offensive line. Depending on what a team is looking for, his inexperience will work against him in some war rooms and in his favor in others.
