Chris Conte

Chris Conte scouting report

Chris Conte S California
Ht: 6’2″

Wt: 200

Strengths:
Rare height for the position. Decent overall size and strength. Former cornerback with decent coverage skills. Fairly reliable tackler; gives a solid effort and technique is consistent.
Weaknesses:
Limited ball skills; only two career interceptions. Still learning the safety position. Did not become a full time starter until 2010; only 17 career starts.
Comments:
Conte showed a good amount of potential in 2010, his first as a starter at Cal. The biggest concern is his ball skills. Your free safety is supposed to be a ball hawk and Conte hasn’t shown that ability to this point in his career. Overall he seems like a safe pick in the mid-to-late rounds and should have no problem earning a spot on a roster as a reserve defensive back and special teams contributor.
