Ian Williams scouting report

Ian Williams DT Notre Dame
Ht: 6’1″

Wt: 320

Impressive size and strength. Has the perfect build to play nose tackle. Decent amount of experience – starter for 2.5 years. Has a reputation as a leader and a hard worker. Played on a defense devoid of talent – may allow him to blossom once he’s in an NFL system.
Limited athletically; won’t make many plays in the backfield and will very rarely get to the quarterback. Missed final four games of senior year with knee injury.
Williams will be limited by his lack of athleticism, but if you’re looking for a nose tackle in the 3rd or 4th round he is well worth the risk. He lacks the truly elite size, strength and athleticism that can get a nose tackle into the 1st or 2nd round discussion, but he definitely has the potential to develop into a starter. In the right system, he could be a mid-round steal.
