Chris Hairston scouting report

Chris Hairston OT Clemson
Ht: 6’6″

Wt: 326

Strengths:
Three-year starter at left tackle. Elite size and strength. A physical run blocker. Flashes starter-quality fundamentals and dominance at times.
Weaknesses:
Limited athleticism. Lacks the lateral movement necessary to play left tackle and may even struggle on the right side. Knows good fundamentals, but gets sloppy at times. Conditioning may be an issue; he doesn’t have the body of someone who is in great shape and his fundamentals noticeably break down on long drives and on individual plays that get extended.
Comments:
Hairston has some potential, but he needs to be more consistent. At this point he’s sort of the collegiate version of Flozell Adams – a guy who clearly has the ability to be a star, but simply has moments where he seems to give up and lose focus. If he’s willing to lost some weight in an effort gain mobility and better stamina he could develop into a late-round steal, but I would be too concerned about his conditioning to take him before the 6th or 7th round.
