Kelvin Sheppard scouting report

Kelvin Sheppard ILB LSU
Ht: 6’2″

Wt: 250

Three-year starter. Big, physical player. Has the strength to shed blocks and get into the backfield. Very reliable tackler and a hard hitter. An instinctive player who always finds himself around the ball. A team leader on and off the field; voted team captain as a senior.
Limited athletically. Doesn’t have the speed to excel in coverage. Won’t get after the quarterback frequently.
Sheppard is one of those guys that doesn’t appear to have the athleticism to be an impact player at the next level, but based on his collegiate production it’s tough to count him out. His strength and physical nature may allow him to move to strong-side linebacker. The one thing that could really hold Sheppard back is his coverage ability. If he can’t demonstrate the ability to line up in man coverage with tight ends, then he likely won’t be able to start in the NFL.
