Brandon Burton scouting report

Brandon Burton CB Utah
Ht: 6’0″

Wt: 190

Strengths:
Physical corner with good size. Excels in press coverage. Very good at quickly recognizing the run and stepping up in support. Does a nice job turning and reacting to the ball in the air. Decent ball skills. A team leader on the field. Has the size and willingness to play the run which could lead to a switch to safety.
Weaknesses:
Better at reacting than reading the quarterback and anticipating. He’ll bite on fakes and get caught out of position. Needs better all-around discipline. Lacks elite speed; may struggle with smaller, quicker receiver at the next level if he can’t jam them effectively at the line of scrimmage.
Comments:
Burton has the size to be an effective cover corner, especially against bigger receivers who he can match up with physically. He has the physical tools necessary to be a starter at the next level, but he lacks the discipline to make an immediate impact. He’s a good athlete who is capable of reacting to what he sees, but in the NFL you need to be to anticipate and put yourself into position in order to be successful.
