Ahmad Black scouting report

Ahmad Black S Florida
Ht: 5’10″

Wt: 184

Strengths:
Tons of experience against top competition; a three-year starter at safety. Also has some experience at cornerback. Great instincts; does an nice job reading the quarterback and putting himself in position to make plays. Good ball skills (11 career interceptions). Team captain in 2010.
Weaknesses:
Undersized. Lacks the physical strength to be a strong defender against the run. Not a great all-around athlete. Lacks the speed to make up for mistakes. Doesn’t have the size or speed to excel in man coverage. Struggles when lined up against tight ends, an issue that will be magnified at the next level.
Comments:
Black doesn’t have the measurables of an NFL safety, but it’s tough to overlook his production in college. He’s a smart player who gets the most out of his ability. At worst, he should be a reliable backup and a contributor on special teams.
